NUS Students’ Science Club welfare committee plays an integral part in Faculty of Science. It puts the interests of the students from the Faculty of Science at heart and provides welfare to them. Each year, services are provided to them. Services like bi-annual second hand books sales and exam tea and annual locker loaning are provided. An annual welfare survey is also conducted to seek for the response from the students in regards on their views of the welfare provided by us and the suggestions and comments on the improvements in which the welfare committee can provide to them.

            The bi-annual second hand books sales is conducted on every 2^nd week of each semester. This event is to provide students an extra avenue to sell and purchase second hand books. Similarly, the exam tea is held twice a year, 1 or 2 weeks before the reading week of each semester. The purpose of the event is to provide refreshments and freebies to students, in helping the students to recharge while mugging for their exams. In the locker loaning service, we allow students to loan out lockers at block S9A at a charge of $20 per annum, whereby $8 will be refunded once the locker is returned.  

This year, I am proud to have 18 strong warriors to help me in keeping this committee running smoothly. So far, we have successfully conducted the welfare survey and the exam tea. In 15^th October 2007, the welfare survey is conducted and about 500 students have participated in it. The survey results were tallied and were feedback to the Dean of Science. In this welfare survey, I wish to thank Lyon Lim Yu Tian, as he contributed his IT assistance to us. From 14-16 November 2007, the exam tea is provided to the students. This year, I am proud to have Mitsubishi Uniball as our sponsors in the exam tea.

             The welfare committee is thriving to improve each year to provide better welfare service to the students. Currently, we are coming up with loaning of umbrellas and also loaning of daily locker service. Please support on our new initiatives.
